Did you notice we changed how many sight words we were working on this month?
I have been collaborating with other preschool teachers and they were finding more success with having 5 or so sight words at a time. This doesn’t mean we will be increasing the number of sight words we practice, it just means that your Lil’ will be exposed to each sight word more frequently because we will be seeing sight word groups every other month rather than every 5 months. This gives your Lil’ more opportunities to master them.
This activity will focus on our sight words for the month.

Hockey Puck Template

Step #1
Print and cut out the Hockey Puck Sight Words Template.
Step #2
Layout the hockey nets on the left and the hockey pucks on the right.
Step #3
Match each hockey puck in the correct hockey net.
Step #4

Encourage your Lil’ to identify the words.

If they are not ready for that, add the commentary for them. “Oh, you have the puck that says are. Can you find the net that says are?”

Even though you are the one saying the word, they are soaking it in and eventually it will click.

Teacher Tip

Encourage your Lil’ to cut the templates out themselves to get some fine motor practice in.

If that is too much for them, try splitting the job (you cut the nets and they cut the pucks).
